What shows are you looking forward to in the new fall TV season?
I'm really looking forward to the new season of Bones. Other than that, I have a few shows I will continue to tune into, but not with the same amount of excitement. Actually, I should figure out my viewing schedule. Let's see!
Sunday:
Viva Laughlin - 7pm, October 18. Drama, musical, Lloyd Owen, what's not to love???
Cold Case - 8pm, September 23. It's on after Viva Laughlin, and I always love it, so I'll probably just keep it on after.
Doctor Who - 10pm, continuing. Yeah, I've seen the Ninth Doctor's episodes several times now. Does that stop me from watching them here? It does not.
Monday-Friday:
Coupling - 9pm, continuing. I quite love this show. Patrick and Sally are the best.
Monday:
Dancing with the Stars - 7pm, Sept. 24. Joey got me hooked, what can I say?
(Last season's finale of How I Met Your Mother seemed like such a perfect concluding place, I don't think I'll watch the show anymore. I was pretty eh on it last year.)
Tuesday:
Bones - 7pm, Sept 25. SO glad I don't have to wait until November for this. Man, I love this show.
Dancing with the Stars - 8pm, Sept 25. Results.
Wednesday:
Nothing
Thursday:
Ugly Betty - 7pm, Sept 27. Not a must see show, but I love it every time I see it.
(Geez, CSI is still on??)
Friday:
Doctor Who - 7pm, continuing. I think there's only 4 episodes left (Blink + Jack's trilogy), but they might rerun them after.
Numb3rs - 9pm, Sept 28. I had forgotten about this show this summer, but I do want to see what happened to Colby.
Stargate Atlantis - 9pm, Sept 28. Thank heavens for dual tuner TiVos. I'm pretty unenthusiastic for this season (Sam Carter, I'm looking at you), but it is still David Hewlett. So.
Saturday:
Doctor Who - 7pm, continuing. Yes, I've already seen series 2 multiple times. Your point?
Torchwood - 8pm, continuing. YAY Torchwood!! This will run through early December, then I go on vacation for three weeks and then I will be only weeks from the series two premiere in the UK. Very exciting.
I think Viva Laughlin is the only new show I have here. Then there's the four runs of Who and Torchwood that I've already seen and am just rewatching. A fairly light schedule, but we'll see what catches my eye as the season continues.
I'm watching the Doctor Who marathon on BBCA today - all 13 episodes of the Ninth Doctor, with plenty of promos for Torchwood, as well as interviews and behind the scene looks with John Barrowman. YAY TORCHWOOD!!! I cannot wait for it to start airing here in the US. Allow me to present two ads for it: one is a typical 30 second one, and the second a two minute preview. Watch these, and then watch the show next Saturday evening at 9pm ET.
After all the recent season and series finales, what are you watching on TV these days?
This is an appropriate question, seeing as how I am frantically refreshing websites, waiting for the newest episode of Doctor Who to be available. LOL
I am also watching Monarch of the Glen, season 6. (Starring Lloyd Owen, who will star in Viva Laughlin on CBS this fall. Yay! It is also a remake of Blackpool, which starred David Tennant, who is that lovely adorable Tenth Doctor pictured above.) Oh, and the Stargates still have one more week of episodes.
In your ultimate dream house, what does your favorite room look like?
This is Ellen's bedroom on Slings and Arrows and I utterly adore it. I covet it. The wall color, the bed, the lamps, I love every bit of it. (I also love Geoffrey Tennant, but I'd probably have a harder time finding him in a store.)
These new wider columns bug me. Half of my last column, the one with
my updated friends and the like, isn't showing. Drives me bananas. I
guess I need to reorganize the columns, but I liked this style, damn
it. I also can't see my pretty pink beverages up there. Grrr.
My grandmother moved in with us last week. Oy.
I've watched Firefly the last two weeks. I fell deeply and madly in
love with it. I have Serenity sitting on my DVD player, but can't bear
to lose any of the characters just yet. I adore RIver and Mal
especially, but I love all them. I had tried to watch it when it first
aired, but didn't get into it. Even now, I liked the first disc all
right, started to fall with disc 2 and Safe (River and Simon) and fell
totally and completely with disc 3 and Out of Gas (Mal making sure
they'd all be there when he woke up). It took time, but it has wormed
its way into my heart.
I check here every day for cool new QotD bits, but I seem to miss
all of the fun ones! I guess I need to get into the habit of
refreshing, because I usually just see the question from the day before
and therefore miss the ones I'd want to answer! Sadness.
Holy crap is it dark out. 9:51am and all you can see out my window is pure darkness. Fabulous.
Remember WENN. Ah, how I loved that show. Still do.
Pre-WW2 Pittsburgh, at radio staion WENN. Backstage drama, frontstage comedy, and dialogue you just can't find on most mainstream television, all written by Rupert Holmes. (Yes, the Pina Colada man.)
It aired on AMC, who canceled it far, far before it's time. It was
December 1941. War was beginning to shake up the staff, even those who
couldn't go off to fight. Mr. Foley proposed to Eugenia. Scott and
Victor asked Betty to make a final choice between them. And Hilary
finally admitted to Jeff that she even if she could forgive him for
breaking her heart, they couldn't get back together - she was already
married. The end. For good. Stupid cliffhangers. Stupid AMC.
Thank God for Rupert, who loves his fans and told us: Eugenia said yes, Betty refused to choose, and Hilary was married to Scott, in a marriage of convenience. (Halleluiah! I loved them almost as much as I loved Jeff and Hilary, and wrote the very first Scott and Hilary story, way back in 1997 or 98. Go me!) It only aired from 1996-1998, four seasons in two years, but there was so much more to be said and done. Here's hoping he gets it on Broadway like he plans!
I've posted about 85 bazillion times in other places today, so I'll give those poor people a rest. LOL
I got my new TiVo hooked up. I'm rather proud of myself for doing it
completely on my own. I only ran into one snag, and I fixed it pretty
quickly. Now it's all set up with my Wishlists and Season Passes, and
it's already finding many shows on at the same time to record for me.
Excellent. My ToDo list looks SO LONG, though. I guess it's because of
the West Wings and SG1s on digital cable. I took a lot of them off,
though.Oh, but the movies from TCM, too. Eh, well. I'll delete as I go,
as always.
When I added my new books and movies, I was glad to see that the
resetting/bouncing page had disappeared. Makes life much easier when
you can trust what you're clicking on to stay what you're clicking on.
Now if only we could have an alt text box float above it when you mouse
over. I have to hope for the best when selecting a Farscape DVD,
because the names are so long that only "Farscape" shows up under the
image. Duh, I know that much. It's the part that comes next, but is cut
off, (Season 2, edition 2, for example) that is most important there!
I like the text ads, they blend in well. And so far, they tend to be Farscape and Harry Potter related, which amuses me greatly.
Technology and I were having a very rough day yesterday. I got my
new digital cable box, but I couldn't get it to work with TiVo. Then I
couldn't get TiVo to work. After three hours, I had to give up because
Gilmore and VMars were starting. I think I figured out the problem - I
think TiVo was updating the lines yesterday, so I couldn't get a call
out to them in guided setup. After wailing and whining about it
for hours, though, I couldn't post that bit of reassuring news, because
the board was down! And so was Comet. Very sad, indeed.
So I had to unplug TiVo last night to watch my shows, but I'm bummed
I couldn't record. GIlmore was charming, although pointless and not a
good episode to show in sweeps the week before the finale, and VMars
was intense and incredible. I wish I had been able to record it to
watch it again. I like to watch that show at least twice to pick up on
all the clues.
After lunch, I shall try to connect TiVo again. But only for an hour
or so, because I don't want to get too upset before heading off to
work. LOL Such a mess. But all was not bad today. Kathy brought
her baby boy in, three weeks old, and I got to snuggle and hold him.
Eeeee, baby! And then Noneck was very huggy and clingy today, which is
unusual, but since she was so smiley and happy, I just accepted it as
her feeling affectionate towards me. LOL
I have to say, TiVo issues aside, it's very awesome having TCM and Sci-Fi in my room now.
