Liss and I did our usual walk in the woods. We've done this path before, but never as far as we took it. (We actually finished the yellow path, took a bit of cream, transferred to orange, which led to green, where we found the most gorgeous expanse of open land with pond.) We headed back and were just starting on the cream path when we saw THIS walking towards us. I got the picture, but he was hustling at us. We turned and walked quickly (but not too quickly!) away and had to decide what to do. We didn't know where we were, in relation to the parking lot or streets, and had to decide to brave the path, follow the road, or ask the workers. We asked the workers, chose the path, and managed a 9 minute mile back to the car. *g*
Lots of nature pics, especially of the clearing, on my Flickr. Extreme close-up of animal found here.
This is what I was working on from the cast on I showed this weekend. I'm really loving how it's turning out, errors and all. (I misread the pattern and didn't decrease properly in row 6. It took a few rows to fix it after I noticed, hence the bubbles at the bottom corners.) Co-worker L says that it would make a nice scarf pattern, and I think she's right. Anyway, I'm still proud of it.
What I ended up making last night. I am wildly in love with the flower and moderately happy with the parallelogram. It was me practicing the pattern for the Charmed Knits hip scarf, but I had difficulties with the k1f&b stitch. Even with three books and a video in front of me. LOL
We haven't quite de-Christmasfied anything. Who has the time? So this
is our table centerpiece. From R-L, we have the shiny snowflake votive
holder I bought this year, a nativity scene ornament carved from
Bethlehem olive wood, and a glittery tree I bought at Trader Joe's with
a lovely ornament hanging from it. I love blue and silver at Christmas
- I even have a blue and silver snowflake garland around my window all
year long. My mom says it's my Jewish upbringing (ha ha. I don't think
my few Hannukkah's with my cousins made that much of an impact). And
yes, the tree came with glitter already on it. I knew it must be mine.
(In the background: paperwork from my new social security card I waited 2 hours for. Yay!)
(I have been doing this daily, but only posting my favorites here. Feel
free to click on the photo to find the photostream and see them all.)
As a children's librarian, I need to keep up with new books so I can do readers advistory. Finally, an excuse to keep reading children's and YA books! ;) Danger Boy is an awesome series about a boy, Eli, from the future who hooks up with a Thea, whose mother was Hypatia, and Clyde, a dinosaur from another dimension, and travels through time trying to save his mother and the world. He's currently bouncing between 1941 California and Merlin's time. Written by Mark London Williams and enthusiastically recommended.
I framed the two Torchwood posters I bought off eBay. The one of Jack will never fail to make me laugh, with the bidding disaster. (Who would have thought the BBC would unlist it just after my bid?!)
